Corn Palace Festical

whee...nothing like a Carnival to a little kid! The boys had SO MUCH FUN! We just went downtown for one night and let them ride rides. Their favorite was the Dragon Rollercoaster - you can see how seriously they took it - AND by the end they knew that you should put your arms up in the air and YELL!

They also liked going down the huge slide. While Daddy and Levi rode the "boring" (Caleb's words not mine) Carousel (is that right?) Caleb went down the slide like 5 times - then got Daddy and Levi to go down as well. Lucky Daddy!

They also had things that they did individually - Caleb was too big for the bumper boats - so Levi took them by storm.

Caleb got his first turn at DRIVING the bumper cars! He did a great job and wasn't even afraid of bumping people. :)

Last picture is of them in the race car ride...which was sadly disappointing. It didn't run very well, and really didn't go fast enough for their liking. :)

Caleb's turn.

Well, this actually happened before school started - but Caleb did get his Daddy and Me fishing trip. I think Jason was a little concerned at first - they weren't catching anything like he and Levi on their trip. But things turned around when they moved spots and they were quite successful. Unfortunatly someone touched the lense of the camera so some of the pictures are kind of blurry. Oh well!
Caleb said fishing with Daddy was lots of fun - and it was quiet with out Levi talking all the time. :) Caleb's getting to be an expert on lots of things fishing - including bait and casting and tackle.
Jason loves teaching his sons. Pretty cool dad huh?

First Day of School!

Well, we all knew it was coming! :) Caleb started Kindergarten today! I was kind of sad to see him go, but his excitement was too much! :) HE could not WAIT!
Look at the difference - he looked so small last year! (green shirt is last year)

He just got home from school and spent a half hour telling me EVERYTHING he could think of. :) The only thing he got scolded for so far is that he DIDN'T GO TO THE BATHROOM THE ENTIRE DAY! That is going to have to change! silly kid.

They had art and drew pictures of themselves. He thought lunch was the greatest thing ever - and he was relieved to find out that the weren't going to FORCE him to eat his carrots. :) AND he had TWO servings of chocolate milk! Once with lunch and once with his snack. So I told him maybe he should choose white milk one time and chocolate the other. heh.
Here he is at the school! I forced Jason to take the camera with him when he went to drop him off this morning!

Other news - he says his shoes hurt his feet. So I suppose we'll go hunting for new shoes tonight.

Levi and I survived the day too - He was a little sad this morning, but was excited to get to pick whatever HE wanted to watch on TV!

Now we're all ready to do it again tomorrow!

ps - special thank you to all my loveley friends at ScrapLove - I wouldn't have made it thru today with out you!

Daddy and Me Time!

Caleb went to VBS at our Church here in Mitchell this week (sheesh 3 VBS's in one summer!). But unfortunatly they don't start classes for kids until they are Four. Levi was MAD! So Daddy decided that they would spend some "guy" time this week while Caleb was gone. And this way *I* could spend some quiet ME time at home scrapbooking and working on some projects around here.

Well, tonight they went fishing at Lake Mitchell and LOOK! They actually caught FISH! They caught 10 all together - brought 6 (bluegill)home. Levi was SO EXCITED! So now there's Daddy and Me time scheduled for Caleb for next week before school starts! :)

This last picture got my mom and I talking. Look at how much Levi looks just like Jason in this picture. We've always thought that he looks like Jason. BUT if you've ever seen a picture of Jason at 3 yrs old - he looked nothing like Levi - he had lighter skin, and BLONDE hair! Strange... How can Levi at 3 look like Jason the grown up - and neither Levi NOR Jason the grown up look much like Jason the 3 yr old. hmm...something to ponder. :) OR maybe it's just that I'm way too tired and should GO TO BED! ;) NIGHTY NIGHT!

VBS week in Grand Island...

Swimming Cousins!

ok - so this is kind of late - but better late than never! :)

We had a great week at Drew and Michelle's! Even a broken/being replaced air conditioner couldn't spoil our fun. The kids had lots of fun playing and goofing around. Jason and Drew went fishing one morning and took all the boys one other day. Michelle and I did alot of scrapbooking. Everyone was happy! Here are a few pictures! Enjoy!

ok - I know I have tons to blog about - but THIS is most important!

It's RAINING in South Dakota! Well, here anyway - my folks still aren't getting any, but we are here and it's SO great. We need rain so badly.

So I took the boys out to play in it - they had a blast! They were busy filling all their sand buckets from the rain spout b/c they're sure Daddy will need the water to water the garden. :)

So here they are a couple of pictures - enjoy!

And I have to share this - Last week on the way to Drew and Michelle's house for our little Vacation - Jason and I were listening to my Nichole Nordeman CD - woven and spun. I love her music - I think she has such a message and I really like her style. The last song on the CD really touched me and got our attention. It gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it - what a great message it has for us. For us in South Dakota waiting on the Lord to provide the much needed rain. That even if he doesn't send it when we think we need it - that we'll thank him for the lesson in patience and trust. I wish I could share the song with you - but I'll just share the lyrics for now - you look for the song.

Gratitude by Nichole Nordeman (CD Woven and Spun)

Send some rain, would You send some rain? 'Cause the earth is dry and needs to drink again And the sun is high and we are sinking in the shade Would You send a cloud, thunder long and loud? Let the sky grow black and send some mercy down Surely You can see that we are thirsty and afraid But maybe not, not today Maybe You'll provide in other ways And if that's the case . . .
We'll give thanks to You With gratitude For lessons learned in how to thirst for You How to bless the very sun that warms our face If You never send us rain

Daily bread, give us daily bread Bless our bodies, keep our children fed Fill our cups, then fill them up again tonight Wrap us up and warm us through Tucked away beneath our sturdy roofs Let us slumber safe from danger's view this time Or maybe not, not today Maybe You'll provide in other ways And if that's the case . . .

We'll give thanks to You With gratitude A lesson learned to hunger after You That a starry sky offers a better view if no roof is overhead And if we never taste that bread

Oh, the differences that often are betweenWhat we want and what we really need

So grant us peace, Jesus, grant us peace Move our hearts to hear a single beat Between alibis and enemies tonight Or maybe not, not today Peace might be another world away And if that's the case . . .

We'll give thanks to You With gratitude For lessons learned in how to trust in You That we are blessed beyond what we could ever dream In abundance or in need And if You never grant us peace

But Jesus, would You please .
